The Importance of Lip Care
Many people believe that lip care is not an important
part of their daily routines. Throw a bit of lip balm on every once
in a while and all will be well. This is not actually the case,
however. Daily lip care should be done when all other hygiene needs
are taken care of, on a regular basis.
Especially important is protecting the lips when
doing outdoor activities. Those who find themselves in the sun,
whether during the summer or winter months, should apply a lip balm
with an SPF of at least 15 before heading out. This coating of SPF
protection will keep the lips from burning and becoming chapped.
Even on cloudy and windy winter days, a lip balm of some kind will
help prevent the lips from drying out and becoming cracked, which
can lead to pain and bleeding.
Something numerous people do not realize about lip
care is they can prevent many problems simply by not licking their
lips. The constant licking of the lips can actually take away
natural moisture, causing damage and a chapped condition. Whenever
the lips are dry, use a coating of a moisturizing lip balm instead,
as that will protect instead of harm the lips.
A last lip care tip that everyone should be
following, along with a healthy lifestyle, is staying hydrated by
drinking plenty of water and fluids. When the body is dehydrated,
lip moisture and health can suffer. Keeping the body fully hydrated
allows the lips to stay full, soft and naturally beautiful.
If a lip condition ever occurs that is unusual, leave
the lip care to a professional. Seek medical attention at the
earliest opportunity to prevent any kind of serious damage to the
lips and surrounding areas of the face.
Lipstick Should
Compliment, Not Clash
When it comes to lipstick,
complimentary should be the order of the day. Something that stands
out shockingly probably is not what the wearer is aiming for.
However, something that flows nicely with the overall make-up scheme
and skin tones of the wearer can be considered beautiful!
The best way to determine the best
lipstick colors for you is to try all the various shades on. It is
not necessary to purchase every color of lipstick under the sun to
accomplish this, though. Many make-up counters now offer
“make-overs” and samples of almost any kind of cosmetics under the
sun. Find a day where you can take some time, find those colors you
believe you would enjoy wearing, and try them all on. Take a friend,
so you will have a second opinion on which shades work best with
your skin color, hair color, eye color and overall appearance.
There is no reason to not be
creative with your lipstick, either. Maybe a single color does not
look quite right with your skin tones, but mixing two different
shades of lipstick together creates the perfect look! If you really
like a color, but maybe find it a bit too bright, add in a slightly
darker shade. The opposite can be done with a lipstick that may be
slightly too dark. With experimentation, you can not only have a lot
of fun, but you will see if you cannot find something just right for
you.
Do not forget to protect your lips
underneath your lipstick. Coating the lips with a moisturizing balm
before applying lipstick can keep your lips from becoming chapped
and cracked, as some lipsticks have ingredients which can dry them.
When lips are damaged, it is best to avoid lipsticks for a brief
period, at least until they heal.
